About Mana Taiohi & the Code of Ethics

The Mana Taiohi Principles inform the wider ecosystem that supports young people in Aotearoa to thrive. They are the result of a review of the principles of youth development previously expressed in the Youth Development Strategy Aotearoa (2002). This review captured the voice of over 1,000 young people, over 600 people who work with young people in 10 regional hui, 7 Māori caucuses, a Pacific fono and an Aotearoa-based literature review.

The Code of Ethics for Youth Work in Aotearoa provides an agreed set of guidelines for youth work in Aotearoa to ensure that youth work is carried out in a safe, skilled, ethical manner. The third edition features voices of youth workers across the motu, including young people working with young people and insights from our diverse community of practitioners.
